Beginning Psychotherapy:
In our initial phone conversation I will ask you a few questions to better understand why you are seeking help and see if I am a good fit. I will also give you time to ask any questions you may have. In our first appointment together, I will review my policies and procedures in detail so that we can be on the same page about what therapy is and is not. I will also ask detailed questions about the difficulties you are facing, your history, and your relationships to better understand you and what is happening.
Setting Goals:
After we have established a shared understanding about your concerns, we will work together to set goals for our time together. We will focus on attainable changes that will improve your quality of life and ability to cope with what you are experiencing. We will also decide together what form your therapy will take and what kinds of interventions we will use together.
What Therapy Looks Like:
Therapy can take a variety of forms. Individual therapy, family therapy, or couples therapy may all be appropriate and useful options for what you are facing. We will talk in detail together about the form and frequency of your therapy.
